Cong protest continues

IMPHAL, Apr 1: Decrying the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha, several frontal organisations of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) staged a sit-in-protest at Congress Bhavan, BT Road here today.
The Congress workers used many placards which read “Congress stands for truth and truth only”, “We stand with Rahul Gandhi” etc. They also shouted slogans like “Rahul Gandhi Zindabad”, “Congress party Zindabad”.
Speaking to media persons, MPCC working president and minority department in-charge Md Fajur Rahim said that they were staging the protest demonstration in a very peaceful manner under the Jay Bharat Satyagraha.
India’s democratic system which is hailed by many countries across the world has been tarnished due to gross abuse of power by the ruling BJP, he said.
He said that Congress party would struggle relentlessly to save democracy in the country.
In a democracy, an Opposition MP is entitled to speak against the failures of the ruling party both inside and outside the Parliament, Fajur Rahim said.
