Documentary film commercially screened

Meiram-The Fireline, a 33 minute documentary was theatrically released today at Tanthapolis Cinema, Lamphel Supermarket.
According to a statement, this allegedly marks the first time a documentary film has been commercially screened in a theatre in the State.
Legendary filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma was among the roughly 120 strong audience members who came to watch the documentary today.
“It is the first time in Manipur that a documentary film is screened in a cinema theatre by selling tickets”, he said.
He also called it very encouraging that people are showing up to watch a documentary film in theatre.
Showing appreciation towards the film, he congratulated James Khangenbam, the filmmaker who directed the film.
It may be noted that tickets were sold online at Book My Show and offline at a price of Rs 100, Rs 140, Rs 300 and Rs 500 respectively.
Meiram – The Fireline is a film depicting stories of forest conservation by a group of young volunteers for over 20 years. The film also explores the peaceful coexistence of nature, humans, birds, insects and pets. Notably, the documentary opened the 17th Mumbai International Film Festival, 2022.
