CHANDEL, Feb 13
Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Thoubal in collaboration with NSS Units and IQAC Cell of Kakching Khunou College organised a District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament for Kakching district on the theme, "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" at Sivananda Memorial Hall, Kakching Khunou College today.
The event was focussed on the topics, "G20 & Y20 summit", "Mission LiFE", "International Year of Millets" and "Catch the Rain Campaign", said a release issued by NYK Thoubal.
The District Youth Parliament & Launching of Catch the Rain project phase III of NYK Thoubal was attended by Kh Radhamani Devi, ex-Councillor Kakching Khunou Municipal Council; Dr P Memcha Devi, Principal Kakching Khunou College and Michael Thangminlien Mate, District Youth Officer NYK Thoubal as presidium members.
The event began with the lighting of the inaugural lamp by the dignitaries.
Resource persons, N Saratkumar Singh, HOD English Department, Kakching Khunou College delivered a lecture on the topics, "India’s G20 Presidency", "G20 summit in Manipur on February 17-18, 2023" and "Y20 Themes- Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation & 21st Century skills; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a way of life; Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an era of No War; Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance; and Health, Wellbeing & Sports: Agenda for Youths" while N Mohendro Singh, HOD Zoology Department, Kakching Khunou College, spoke on "Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and International Year of Millets 2023".
Later, Dr P Memcha Devi led the youths in a Water Pledge and officially launched the Catch The Rain project.
The event culminated with "Atithi Devo Bhava"- a programme showcasing unique culture of the district and rich heritage of the country.
