Awareness programme on "Mobile Water Quality Laboratory" kicks off

IMPHAL, Feb 13: A two-day awareness programme on "Mobile Water Quality Laboratory" procured under National Hydrology Project, Manipur was kicked off today at the State Hydrological Data Centre, Lamphelpat near Family Court.
The awareness programme which was organised by the Water Resources Department, Government of Manipur, was flagged off by Awangbow Newmai, Minister of Water Resources and Relief & Disaster Management.
With regards to the subject matter of the awareness programme it may be noted that a mobile water quality laboratory is an integrated water quality laboratory which is mounted into a moving vehicle.
Reportedly, the Water Resources Department had procured 2 Mobile Water Quality Laboratory under National Hydrology Project and it will be the first such mobile water quality laboratory of the State.
This mobile water quality laboratory can provide data on water quality at any water source of the State on site or in the laboratory by collecting data. Water quality parameters could be categorized as physical, chemical, microbial, heavy solids, pesticides etc. All these water quality parameters can be tested with this Mobile Water Quality Laboratory. Data entry will be done on site as well as in the laboratory in a special software which will be created soon and data will be hosted in the server of the SWIC, a statement has informed.
The department will also launch a helpline number for the general public.
