IMPHAL, Dec 28 : Iroishemba Thang-Ta Academy bagged 5 medals including 4 gold medals in the sub-junior boys' Phunaba Ama events of the 33rd State Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Thang-Ta Championships which kicked off yesterday at Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom under the aegis of Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur.
Chingangbam Naresh of Thang-Ta Academy fetched a gold medal in the -33 kg category competition by defeating N Birnath Meitei of KETTSS, Kongpal as Irungbam Bomsom, Chingangbam Genish and Salam Vishal topped the -37kg, -41 kg and -49 kg category competition.
The only bronze medal for the academy was won by Nishan Irungbam in the -49 kg category competition.
ANJIKA, Sangaiprou also won two gold medal as Chenglei Nongthombam topped the -21 kg category event by beating compatriot Thoihenba Nongthombam and A Bhivraj beat Sanjit Thongam of Thoibi Thang-Ta in the -53 kg category title clash.
Luwang Thang-Ta's Ch Poireiton also won a gold medal in the -45 kg category event beating M Manimatum of KEETSS as BDHLTTA, Kakyai's N Chingsuba Meitei sealed the -29 kg category gold medal by beating ANJIKA's Toller in the final.
In the Sub-Junior girls Phunaba Ama competition, Kh Debeshowri of Luwang Thang-Ta Academy, Sajor Leikai won the -45 kg category gold beating E Ambalika of IMMAA-Heirok as N Maya of ANJIKA defeated N Dhaneshwori of KETTSS for the -49 kg category gold medal. L Valentina in the meantime sealed the +53 kg category gold.
Sub-Junior Boys Phunaba Anishuba
The day also saw N Engba of Universal Thang-Ta Academy, Wangoo winning the -21 kg category gold in the sub-junior boys Phunaba Anishuba competition by beating Kh Shanamacha of ANJIKA in the final before N Chingkheinganba of the same unit claimed another gold medal by beating Makhanang S of Haokok Thang-Ta Academy, Ukhrul in the -25 kg category final.
Ngachanhor CS of Haokok Thang-Ta Academy, meanwhile, won the -29 kg category gold beating N Aditya of BDHLTTA as Ngariyanbam Ajit of KTTA-Lairikyengbam Leikai, Elangbam Robart of IMMAA, Elangbam Mahesh of IMMAA, Th Malemnganba of ANJIKA and N Paikhomba won gold medals in the -33 kg, -37 kg, -41 kg, -45 kg and -49 kg category events.
