IMPHAL, Dec 27 : State wrestler Ningthoujam Akash was able to win a bronze medal in the U-17 Boys' Wrestling competition of the 67th National School Games hosted in Delhi under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India.
Ningthoujam Akash had to settle for the bronze medal as he suffered a semi-final loss to Delhi opponent in the 71 kg category Greco Roman style competition.
U-17 girls Football
Meanwhile in the U-17 girls Football competition hosted in Patna, Manipur topped the Group C competition with a 10-0 demolition of Vidya Bharathi today.
Th Reshma led the demolition job by scoring four goals alone (11', 16', 42', 44') after M Sanjana opened the floodgate in the 9th minute. Sanjana went on to add two more goals (41', 49') to complete her treble in this one sided match as H Linthoi (10'), N Olivia (31') and N Henerita (39') netted a goal apiece. Notably Manipur had beaten Delhi 2-0 and prevailed 13-0 over NVSA in the previous Group matches.
Boxing: 6 U-14 boys reach semis
As many as six U-14 boys were able to secure medal round berths after quarter final victories today in the 67th National School Games Boxing hosted by Maharashtra in Akola.
Ronald Keisham reached the 32 kg category semi-final with a RSC (Referee Stops Contest) victory in the first round against Bihar's Aniket Kumar. Kh Shahil Meitei also secured a similar victory against Aryan Damre of Maharashtra in a 36 kg category semi-final bout.
K Rudraksh Singh, meanwhile, sealed the 42 kg category semi-final berth with a comfortable 5-0 quarter final win over Telangana's K Bharat before Y Giveson Singh secured a RSC win over Aditya of MP in the first round of a 44 kg category quarter final bout.
M Lanchenba and Kh Leishemba Meitei also secured semi-final berths by defeating Bihar's Kunal Kumar and Rajasthan's Sahil Choudhary respectively in the 46 kg and 48 kg category quarter final matches.
The competition will run till December 29.
