THOUBAL, Dec 15: Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) organised the World AIDS Day observance at the seminar hall of Waikhom Mani Girls' College at Thoubal Okram today on the theme 'Let Communities Lead'.
The observance was graced by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul; Waikhom Mani Girls' College vice-principal, S Shyamkiran; MNP+ Imphal general secretary, S Udita Devi; District AIDS Control Officer, DAPCU Thoubal Y Bijendra and NHM Thoubal DPM, Y Basanta as the presidium members.
As a part of the programme, the dignitaries presented appreciation certificates to MNP+ New Delhi, Thoubal/Kakching Field Officer L Bimol and MNP+ Thoubal executive board member and VIHAAN project staff, P Sandyarani acknowledging their remarkable efforts in promoting the welfare of people affected by AIDS and in the fight against this dreadful condition since 2005.
During the programme, the resource persons and experts spoke at length about HIV/AIDS.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Y Nokul stated that the Health Department has been making all possible efforts to fight against AIDS.
He also cited various measures and policies which are being taken up to raise mass awareness about AIDS in the interest of the general public.
