Police recover arms and ammunition

IMPHAL, Nov 28: Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from different places during the last few days.
On November 22 night at around 10, security forces arrested two active cadres of PREPAK (Pro) from Singjamei Chingamathak Pishum Leirak along with arms and ammunition. The two have been identified as Laishram Prem Singh (33) son of L Shantikumar Singh of Thoubal Okram and Khumukcham Dhiren Singh alias Thakappa (41) son of (L) Kh Nilamani Singh of Nambol Phoijing Makha Leikai.
The two were travelling in a Tata Nexon Car when they were arrested.
From their possession, the security forces seized two 5.56 MM INSAS LMG, eight  5.56mm INSAS LMG Magazines, 161 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, one 9 mm Pistol and one Magazine loaded with 5 rounds, five mobile phones, one WT hand held set and one Tata Nexon Car and Rs 6,500 cash.
The two persons and seized articles have been handed over to Singjamei police station and subsequently, they have been remanded to 10 day police custody.
On November 24, security forces conducted cordon and search operations at Koutruk village under Lamsang police station and foothills of Koutruk and Haraothel village.
During the operations, the security forces seized one .303 Rifle with a Magazine, one 12 Bore Single Barrel gun, one hand-grenade without detonator, one radio set, six live cartridges of 12 Bore Single Barrel gun and four empty cartridges of 12 Bore Single Barrel gun. The recovered items have been handed over to Saparmeina police station.
On November 26, security personnel carried out search operations at P Geljang and P Thenjol villages under Sagolmang police station.
During the search operations, security forces seized five US Carbine with empty Magazines, one SLR with an empty Magazine, one 9mm Pistol with an empty Magazine, one .22 Pistol with an empty Magazine, two hand grenades without detonators, two Chinese hand grenade, two bottles suspected to be fitted with local made IED charge, one detonator and 16 pieces of broken PEK.
Today morning, security forces carried out a cordon and search operation at Hiyanglam Waikhong Leikai and recovered one country made 9mm Pistol along with an empty Magazine, one of 51mm mortar and one smoke grenade (Capsigrenade). The arms and ammunition have been handed over to Hiyanglam police station. In another operation, security forces recovered five Chinese handgrebades, five safety fuse and one helmet (fibre) from Heirok, Thoubal district.
