Ukhrul, Nov 22 : Former Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) president Vakham Zimik was laid to rest at his native village at Pharung in Ukhrul, today.
Vakham Zimik was 89 and is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters.
TNL in solidarity with the bereaved family organised a condolence service at TNL Hall, Ukhrul.
V Zimik was an Advocate by profession and served TNL as president from 1972-1975.
After completing Law studies in the late 1960s, he was actively involved in strengthening 'our community organisations,' said TNL.
He was also a founding member of UBC Church in Ukhrul Town.
Besides that he held several other key posts during his lifetime as president of Tangkhul Zimik Shang (Clan) for two terms from 1984-86 and 1986-90 consecutively and in the Ukhrul Bar Association as Oath Commissioner for the good of the people till his last breath.
