THOUBAL, Oct 31: Students of Heirok High School, a Government school in Thoubal district protested during school hours today against the school authorities for not providing mid-day meals for a week.
Speaking in connection with the protest, one of the students of the school expressed dismay that the students have been deprived of food meant for them, compelling them to study in a state of hunger.
Considering the inconveniences faced by the students of the school due to deprivation of food, the students urged the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest for the well-being of the students. Speaking to media persons, a teacher of the school stated that, 'The school is unable to provide mid-day meals at present since the proper handover and takeover process is not completed between the former Headmaster In-charge and the new Headmaster In-charge'.
Therefore, the teacher sought the attention of the relevant authorities to address the issue at the earliest.
The above situation raises serious concern over the functioning of the Government schools in the State and implementation of various schemes taken up for the welfare of the students.
