IMPHAL, Oct 8 : A large number of people gathered today at Awang Potsangbam Khunou under Heingang Assembly Constituency to offer prayers and floral tributes to the brave heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of the motherland in the ongoing conflict.
The event held at Ibudhou Koubru Khubam in Awang Potsangbam Khunou was organised by Youth For Change, Heingang AC.
Speaking to media persons, Youth For Change Heingang AC advisor Heisnam Okendro shared that the function was organised to remember the sacrifices made by the martyrs who gave their lives fighting the Kuki Narco Terrorists to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and pray for the departed souls to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
He conveyed that Youth For Change will stand for the brave heroes who are still fighting to protect their motherland.
Reaffirming the stand to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur, he asserted that Youth For Change will support all movements for the protection of the State's integrity, however prior information should be given to the group before carrying out any movement/ agitation in Heingang AC to prevent any untoward incident or misunderstandings.
Lamlai Kendra United Club Peace & Development Committee also conducted a similar function at Kanhaimacha Ningshing Sanglen in Nongada to pay respect and remember the supreme sacrifice made by brave heroes of Manipur.
During the function attended by Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha, Lamlai Kendra United Club Peace & Development Committee president Ng Joy and Nongada Village Development Committee president Ph Sanajit, a large number of people offered "Langban Heisoi" for the martyrs to rest in peace.
At the event, Kh Ibomcha announced that efforts will be made to provide suitable jobs to the family members or nearest kin of the martyrs from Lamlai AC who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of the motherland in the present conflict.
The MLA also mentioned that he will bear all the cost for the construction of a memorial site for the martyrs.
Meanwhile, Progressive Youth Development Association and Women's Welfare Association Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai also organised a function at Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai Community Hall to pay respect and offer tribute to the two students, Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi, who were brutally killed by Kuki militants
During the function, the gathering also paid homage to Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) president Ima Longjam Memchoubi.
They also observed two minute silence to pray for the departed souls to rest in peace.
Moreover, Apunba Manipur Huyen Lanlong Lup (AMHLL) also organised a "Langban Heikat Leikat Tamba" ritual at the ground of Chainarol Temple in Sanggonsabi Nongmaiching on Sunday.
