IMPHAL, Oct 7 : Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) and All Manipur Sound Service Association (AMSSA) today staged a sit-in demonstration to express sorrow and demand justice for the horrific & senseless killing of two innocent students, Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit.
Speaking to media persons, AMMIK president Khaidem Thoiba strongly denounced the brutal murder of the two students and added that such inhumane acts should not be tolerated and must be condemned by all right thinking people.
He expressed his disappointment over the failure of the Government and authorities concerned to recover the bodies of the two students and hand them over to their families even after the arrest of some perpetrators.
He also lamented when the video of two Kuki women being paraded naked went viral, many groups, organisations and women folk belonging to the Meitei community came out and protested the tragic incident.
"However, when two innocent students were abducted, tortured and brutally killed, not a single group or women from the Kuki community raised their voice against the cold-blooded killers who are without any humanity. Such collective silence is hard to digest and understand", said Thoiba while appealing to the Central and State Government to take all necessary actions against the perpetrators of the tragic murder and award befitting punishment as per the law.
Thoiba also conveyed his deep sorrow and condolence over the untimely demise of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) president Ima Longjam Memchoubi.
