IMPHAL, Oct 29 : The month-long theatre training programme on "Moirang Parva Tradition" jointly organised by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Theatre Mirror, Imphal concluded today along with the "Narrative Art Festival in memory of Oja Naba Wareepam, Padma Shree awardee" which was conducted from October 16-19, 2023.
The closing ceremony held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen in Palace Compound, Imphal, was attended by Art & Culture Commissioner, M Joy; SP Crime Against Women & Children, Ph Maheshwari; Manipur State Shumang Leela Council president, M Purnimashi Leima and MSSLC lifetime secretary Sougrakpam Hemanta among others.
Speaking on the occasion, M Joy expressed his happiness in seeing children who are staying in relief camps taking part in the training and added that such programmes will help motivate the children during these difficult times along with giving valuable knowledge.
He also stressed on the need to protect, promote and revive the centuries-old narrative art forms of the State.
During the event, certificates were distributed to about 60 children who participated in the theatre training.
Teachers/ instructors of the training programme were also honoured with 'Lengyan' and certificates.
Moreover, the closing ceremony of the 20-days long cultural workshop for displaced children taking shelter at the relief camps opened in Manipur College and Shyamasakhi High School, Moirangkhom was held today at Manipur College campus.
It was attended by Y Khemchand Singh, Minister RD&PR and MAHUD; K Sanathoiba Sharma, Director, Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association; Manipur State Kala Akademi awardee L Debendrajit and Manipur College, Principal, Dr W Shambhunath Singh among others.
