Ram Muivah inspects Ramva PHC, assures all possible help

IMPHAL, Oct 29 : In a major setback to the people of Ukhrul and people who frequent  Imphal-UKhrul road, lack of staff and other inadequacy have crippled Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Ramva, Ukhrul in fulfilling its mandate.
Established in 1986, the PHC is not a facilitator of health care services to the people of Ramva only but also to 37 other villages in Ukhrul and those who need immediate medical attention due to road accidents or other factors along Imphal-UKhrul-Jessami road.
Despite its significance, the PHC has now become outdated and the same causes serious inconvenience to the people in the area when seeking health care services.
Situated just beside Imphal-Ukhrul road along National Highway 202, the PHC has only one Medical Officer (MO) and four nurses at the moment against the sanctioned post of five doctors and 10 nurses.
Reportedly, the PHC doesn't have any chowkidar, peon, Grade-IV staff, apart from  lacking infrastructure.
On the request of Ramva people, Ukhrul AC MLA Ram Muivah inspected the condition of PHC.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, the Ukhrul AC MLA said that the PHC at Ramva is a very important health care facilitator to the people of dozens of villages in Ukhrul apart from being the only health care service provider which the people can look forward to if there is road accident or other emergency along Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami road.
Saying that the PHC needs to be upgraded to Community Health Centre, Ram Muivah said that he will consult with the Health Minister to upgrade the PHC at Ramva.
The PHC lies very near to National Highway 202, the MLA continued and stated that the approach road leading to the PHC, however, is very steep and unfit for vehicular movement.
Saying that the PHC doesn't have any water supply facility, wash room and room for the staff too, the MLA assured that he would consult with the State Government to fill the vacant  posts at the PHC, install required infrastructure and construct a new approach road.
