Man remanded for assaulting daughter

IMPHAL, Oct 27: The Court of Special Judge, POCSO Imphal West today remanded a 33-year old man from Noney district to judicial custody for committing sexual assault and torturing his own daughter during in June this year.
The accused (biological father of the minor victim) was on the run and hiding somewhere in Chennai before he was arrested by a team of Manipur Police on October 22 from Adambakkam, St Thomas Mount, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
The accused was produced before the Court today after completion of police custody period along with a prayer for judicial custody remand.
The case was on against the accused after his wife lodged a complaint at the police station concerned of Noney district stating that her minor daughter was sexually assaulted and tortured by her own biological father during the summer vacation in June at her parental home.
The same Court issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against the accused on October 20.
The accused was produced before the Court on October 24 and taken into police custody till today
The Court after hearing the submission of special PP, IO of the case and on perusal of the material on record remanded the accused to judicial custody till November 10.
