UNACCO School sends off students and officials in State National Games contingent

IMPHAL, Oct 23 : UNACCO School today formally sent off students and school's swimming instructors who made it to the Manipur aquatics squad for the 37th National Games due to be hosted by Goa from October 25 to November 9.
The sending-off ceremony was held at UNACCO School campus at Khongman.
Notably, Khagemba Sarungbam  a class IX student of the school from Kongbam Nandeibam Leikai will be featuring in the water polo event at the games while Panthoi Sagolshem (Class VI) from Nongmeibung and Suranjit Puyam (Class X) from Lilong Chajing will be competing in butterfly stroke and breaststroke events at the games.
Besides them, UNACCO school's swimming instructors- Huirem Gijen from Naharup Huirem Leikai and Hijam Christina from Ningthem Pukhri Mapal are in the State squad as water polo coach and player respectively.
Expressing happiness and pride on being shortlisted in the State contingent, chairman of UNACCO School N Irabanta encouraged the students and swimming instructors to give their best at the Goa National Games.
Speaking at the occasion, N Irabanta said that UNACCO School has not only been excelling in the field of academics but also in the field of games and sports.
It has been UNACCO School's endeavour to produce noteworthy players and contribute in furthering the State's image as "Sports Powerhouse" of the Nation, he said.
The school will do all the needful to continue producing more National and international level athletes, he said.
Noting the figure of the State contingent, N Irabanta said that it was indeed a proud moment for the school to see students and instructors make the cut in the State contingent.
He also lauded the talented students including the class VI student for making it to the squad and wished all the athletes and coach a grand success at the game.
N Irabanta also encouraged the athletes and the coach with monetary assistance worth Rs 20,000 each.
