IMPHAL, Oct 14
The MBBS students from the first, second, and third batches of Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS) have provided essential supplies to the inmates of Recent Higher Secondary School Relief Camp in Sagoltongba on October 14, 2023.
The assistance was provided with the fund raised by the students of SAHS, said a release.
The camp shelters 186 victims of the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
The distributed items included sanitary pads, diapers, towels, soap, shampoo, detergent, toothpaste, as well as food items like potatoes, onions, garlic, ngari (fermented fish), and mosquito repellent. Clothes were also distributed to those in need.
The students educated the inmates of the relief camp about the importance of hand hygiene.
Sanathoibi Kshetrimayum, student’s representative of SAHS, shared that the students of SAHS had previously donated to COCOMI to help conflict-affected victims.
With the conflict persisting, the students decided to personally visit the victims and offer their assistance this time. The camp residents have learned to make products like candles and soaps for self-support, she added.
