127th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot celebrated widely

IMPHAL, Sep 30 : The 127th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot was celebrated today by various clubs, associations, groups/bodies in Manipur.
Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) in association with Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) celebrated the 127th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at the Auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal on Saturday.
It was attended by JNMDA Director, P Bilash; PPCM convenor, Ph Nando Luwang; LINTOC  convenor Kh Gopen Luwang; LINTOC co-convenor Kh Thoiba Meetei; Y Khomba and L Shyam among others.
The celebration began with the participants paying floral tributes to a photograph of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
Speaking on the occasion, Ph Nando Luwang shared that Irabot Day is celebrated widely in the State and beyond by various groups/organisations/clubs every year to honour the remarkable contributions made by revolutionary social activists in trying to establish an egalitarian society.
Kh Gopen Luwang stated that during the month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, various activities including patriotic songs competitions and "Sarit Sara" for children were conducted.
As  part of the event, a Patriotic Song Competition was also conducted and awards were presented to the winners.
Peace and Integrity Committee Kyamgei (PICK) and Youth Popular Club also jointly celebrated Irabot Day by offering floral tributes to a photograph of the Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
The celebration held at the premises of Youth Popular Club in Kiyamgei was attended by PICK convenor Ch Meghachandra as the chief guest.
Besides, PICK also organised a "Langban Chara Tamba" ritual at Leishang Hiden for the brave heroes who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the motherland in the ongoing conflict.
During the ceremony, a large number of Meira Paibis and students from Bashikhong, Langthabal, Thongju, Urup Arapti, Chajing and Kyamgei along with members of All Kyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup offer prayers and other oblations for the departed souls to rest in peace.
Meanwhile, Shija Blood Centre & Transfusion Services, a unit of Shija Foundation, today celebrated Irabot Day by organising a voluntary blood donation camp at Shija Blood Centre &  Transfusion Services, Langol.
The camp was conducted in collaboration with Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (AVBD), Personality & Talent Development Organisation (PATDO), Lainingthou Sanamahi Lup (LSL) and Lonja Alepa Foundation, said Shija Blood Centre & Transfusion Services in a release.
A total of 35 volunteers donated blood during the camp.
At the camp, Sarangthem Kumarjit, treasurer of AVBD, urged the community to help bridge the gap in blood supply, given the  risks faced by frontline volunteers and the rising dengue cases in the State.
Shija Blood Bank & Transfusion Services has conveyed that it is dedicated to serving the community and ensuring that vital blood supplies are readily available to those in need, especially during challenging times.
The organisation also expressed its gratitude to all donors and partners for their unwavering support in this crucial endeavour.
People Protection Committee (PPC) Konthoujam and Women Wing today conducted a blood donation camp at Blood Bank, RIMS, Imphal to commemorate Irabot Day.
As part of the commemoration, floral tributes were also offered to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot  and the brave heroes who gave their lives during the ongoing conflict.
The participants also prayed for the two innocent students, Hemjit and Linthoingambi who were killed by Kuki terrorists to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
Manipuri Department, Manipur University (MU) and Manipuri University Students' Union (MUSU) also jointly celebrated the 127th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot today at V.C. Court Hall, MU, Canchipur.
It was attended by Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, MU; Prof S Sanatombi, former VC in-charge, MU; Prof M Premjit Singh, Dean, Students' Welfare, MU; Th Sonamani Singh, president MUSU; and Prof Toijam Tampha, Head, Manipuri Department, MU as presidium members.
Presentation of poems written by Hijam Irabot and offering floral tributes to the great leader were the main highlights of the event.
Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Ningshing Lup (LHINL) also celebrated Irabot Day today at XI Star Sporting Union Ground in Akampat.
It was attended by RK Sanayaima, LHINL president Thangjam Subhaschandra, social activist Dhanabir Laishram, CPI leader Moirangthem Nara and Longjam Sunil, ex-Pradhan of Torban Kshetri Leikai GP as presidium members.
127th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was also celebrated today at Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Lai Haraobung Shanglen in Keirao Bitra Lairembi Leikai by Youth Development Centre (YDC) Club, Keirao Bitra.
 During the programme, floral tributes were offered to a photograph of Lamyanba Irabot and meritorious students of Keira Bitra were felicitated.
In line with the observation of Irabot Day, Words of Truth Trust Lamphel and Lamphel SuperMarket Development Association today organised a relief materials distribution programme for internally displaced people (IDP) at Lamphel SuperMarket.
During the event, relief materials including rice, salt, edible oil, dal, ngari, potato, onion, etc were provided to about 200 inmates of relief camps.
Inmates of Khuman Lampak Hostel No 2 Relief Camp also celebrated Irabot Day by organising a cleanliness drive in and around the relief camp.
The inmates led by Sarangthem Johnson, Nodal Officer of the Relief Camp also paid floral tributes to a photograph of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot and lighted candles in the area.
A cleanliness cum tree plantation drive was also organised today at Sabungkhok, Chana in Imphal East district to commemorate the 127th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot.
Seijang Progressive Youth Club (SPYC) also observed Irabot Day at Seijang, Chana in Imphal East district.
As part of the event, floral tributes were offered to Lamyanba Irabot and the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the present conflict.
To celebrate Irabot Day, L.G. Motors, Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai, Imphal West today provided relief materials to IDPs staying at UFO Middle South H/Q, Mayang Imphal Charoipung Relief Camp.
Karnataka Meitei Association (KMA) also commemorated the 127th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot by paying homage to the visionary leader and those who had lost their lives in the present conflict.
Moreover, Women folks of Lukmai Sellup also celebrated Irabot Day by organising a "Meira Thoumei Thanba" ritual at Khwairamband Keithel on Saturday.
