Anamaya team meets indigenous influencers

IMPHAl, Jan 5 : A team of Anamaya, the Tribal Health Collaborative carried out a scooping visit in Imphal, Churachandpur, and Moreh areas on Thursday.
The Anamaya team met with Tongbram Amarjit Singh, Director Loktak Folklore Museum that works towards preserving the culture and tools used by the indigenous people.
 A member of Anamaya, Tafiqul Malik also took the initiative to meet officers from Tribal Research Institute and Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills to discuss the possibilities of future collaboration in areas of tribal health.
In Churachandpur, Tafiqul met with a Kuki tribal healer who elucidated on the traditional learning of the healing practices of his tribe, herbs and natural resources used to treat the beneficiaries who come to him.
In Moreh, the Anamaya team met with community based organisations that are working towards social development and betterment of health.
Anamaya, set up in April 2021, is a multi-stakeholder collaborative committed to improving the health of tribal communities and ending preventable deaths among tribal and other marginalized communities across India.
The collaborative is an initiative of the Tribal Affairs Ministry supported by Piramal Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
It will converge efforts of various Government agencies and organisations to enhance the health and nutrition status of the tribal communities of India.
