IMPHAL, Jan 2
A contingent of 26 persons comprising of farmers adopted by ICAR, local entrepreneurs, members of Agri-business Incubation Centre and representatives of farmer producer organizations from various districts of the State bound for “North East Krishi Kumbh, 2023” was flagged off today.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre flagged off the team who will participate in the North East Krishi Kumbh, 2023 to be held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya from January 4 till 6, 2023, said a press release by ICAR, Manipur.
The team will be showcasing different types of indigenous agri products like Chakhao, Kachai Lemon, Tamenglong orange, Sirarakhong chilli, king chilli, processed products including value added products of Chakhao, fruits, vegetables and spices, etc.
Speaking at the occasion Dr I Meghachandra Singh said, Manipur has a lot of unique crops and till date four number of agri produce viz, Chakhao, Kachai Lemon, Tamenglong orange and Sirarakhong chilli got GI tag.
The North East Krishi Kumbh, 2023 will be inaugurated by Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
This mela is an important opportunity to showcase the unique crops and different types of processed products which are produced by the farmers and agri entrepreneurs to help them generate more income and employment.
Altogether, there will be more than 100 stalls from all over the North Eastern states and Manipur will open 15 stalls including agripreneurs, incubators etc.
