IMPHAL, Sep 6 : KLASA, Keinou and NACO, Nambul Mapal posted identical 2-0 victories against their respective rivals today to open their campaigns in the Khumukcham Ingocha Memorial 15th Manipur State League organised by the All Manipur Football Association.
In the 8th match of the tournament (Group B), NACO scored a goal each side of the break to stun TRAU, Kwakeithel 2-0 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Ngairangbam Rakesh opened the scoring 29 minutes into the game to give NACO the headway before Suraj Singh scored a decisive goal two minutes away from time.
TRAU did have some close calls but failed to make the most of the chances and had to slump to 0-2 loss in their first game after their Durand Cup exit.
Later in a Group A clash, KLASA took a slender 1-0 lead in the first half against NESU, Khurai thanks to Khundom Lucky strike in the 16th minute.
KLASA who were dominating the possession from the begining continue to keep things tight in the second half as well and had the second goal via Thokchom Manichand who came off the bench after the break in place of Laishram Roshan, during the stoppage time (90+1') to seal the game 2-0.
The next matches are scheduled on September 9. YPHU, Lalambung will play AFC, Thoubal in a Group A match from 1 pm in the first ground before Yarkhok United FC take on United Khawzim Brothers in another Group A encounter from 3 pm.
