Nutritional food items distributed

IMPHAL, Sep 6: A distribution programme of nutritional food items to pregnant women and lactating mothers was held at TUPO Club building at Takyel Khongbal Mayai Leikai today.
The distribution programme was held in connection with Rashtriya Poshan Maah - 2022 under the theme 'Women and Health, Children and Education' and jointly organised by Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project, Imphal West, Lamsang Block and Takyel Zilla Parishad.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Takyel Zilla Parishad member, Ng Bimola Devi said that as a part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah, the National Nutrition Month which focuses on the nutrition and good health of young children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, she has been involved in distribution of nutritional food items to pregnant women and lactating mothers.
She went on to inform that today's distribution programme is held for the beneficiaries of eight Anganwadi centres under Takyel Zilla Parishad out of the total 30 Anganwadi centres.
Nutritional food items will be distributed to the beneficiaries of the remaining Anganwadi centres within this month, she added.
Bimola further stated that the programme is also aimed at raising awareness about the nutritional food items provided by ICDS Project to lactating mothers in particular.
Emphasizing on the role taken by mothers for the development of the society, she said that the vision of a healthy and developed society can be achieved when mothers stay fit and healthy.
She also lauded the remarkable contributions of Anganwadi workers and helpers who have been working for the well-being of women and children.
The programme was also attended by Takyel Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Khaidem Priyobala; Lamsang ICDS Supervisor, Yumnam Ranita among others.
