THOUBAL, Sep 4: One individual was reportedly abducted, assaulted and robbed by four armed persons who allegedly identified themselves as Imphal East commando personnel last night, reports our correspondent.
The victim identified as RK Raju alias Inao (42) s/o late RK Ningthempishak of Purana Wangjing Heituppokpi, Thoubal district is a younger brother of the United Committee Manipur (UCM) HRD secretary RK Mangisana.
Speaking to media persons today at the residence of RK Mangisana, the victim said that four masked men came to their house at around 7 pm yesterday.
The masked men reportedly came in an unregistered car.
Although all four of them were in civilian fatigue, they pulled out an identity card claiming that they were Imphal East commando personnel.
“As they said they wanted to talk about something, I invited them in but they insisted that I should follow them outside”, RK Raju alias Inao said. As soon as Raju stepped out, they allegedly pointed a gun and forced him into the car.
In the next moment, Raju was blindfolded and the captors bombarded him with a number of questions like “Do you have a gun?”, “Are you engaged in black business?”, “Why is your Scorpio white in colour while the vehicle registration document says it is red?”
Asking Raju to tell only the truth, the masked men also thrashed him.
After allegedly confiscating Rs 35,000 which was in possession of Raju as well as his gold chain and ring, the masked men threw the victim out of the car near a foothill, according to the victim.
When Raju removed the blindfold, he could not see any of the masked men. Then he moved to a nearby house and asked where he was.
The family told him that he was at Uyal Khunou. Then he called his elder brother Mangisana to come there and take him home.
RK Mangisana who was also present during the press meet strongly condemned the act of abducting, thrashing and robbing his younger brother by armed men who identified themselves as Imphal East Civil Commando.
He then urged the Imphal East Commando to come out with a clarification whether they were involved in the particular incident or not.
He also urged the Government to investigate and establish the facts of the incident.
Representatives of local Meira Paibi groups and clubs were also present at the press meet.
