IMPHAL, Sep 19: Carrying on the campaign for enlistment of Meitei/Meetei in the ST category, protest demonstrations were staged at two locations today too under the aegis of the STDCM.
A sit-in protest was staged by members of Kongpal Social Development Organisation and Kongpal Khaidem Leikai Nupi Lup under the STDCM at Kongpal Khaidem Leikai this afternoon.
The sit-in urged the State Government to send necessary recommendations to the Central Government at the earliest for enlistment of Meitei/Meetei in the ST category.
Pressing the same demand, the protesters shouted slogans.
A similar protest demonstration was staged inside the campus of Arena School by the van service providers of the school.
Protesters decried the State Government’s lackadaisical attitude to the issue. They too shouted slogans demanding protection of Meitei/Meetei community through a Constitutional safeguard.
