BISHNUPUR, Sep 1 : Disaster Management Institute, Department of Relief & Disaster Management, Government of Manipur today organised a 2-days training cum awareness programme on "Disaster Management" at Kayai Mayai Leikai under Nambol Municipal Council.
It was attended by T Lata Devi, Co-ordinator Civil Defence Manipur; O Achouba Singh, Sub Team Commander SDRF Manipur; O Ratan Meitei, CDI (Jr) Civil Defence Manipur; and Dr Bankimchandra Thokchom, secretary Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Imphal West as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, O Ratan Meitei stated that the training was organised to impart knowledge and tactics on how to protect lives and what to do during a natural disaster to the public.
As part of the programme, SDRF Manipur Responders, N Prameshori Devi, O Bedam Chanu and A Manglembi Devi also conducted demonstration cum lectures on "Disaster concept", "First Aid", "Search & Rescue techniques", "Fire fighting", "Flood rescue", etc.
