Court remands accused

IMPHAL, Sep 2 : The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has remanded the personnel of Imphal East commando who is a co-accused in the case related to seizure of crystal methamphetamines (ice drug) from Sanju Bakery at Yaiskul Janmasthan till September 8.
The drug was seized by a combined team of 2nd Manipur Rifles, Imphal West police and volunteers of YADA on August 29 last.
Co-accused Khulakpam Haffijuddin Shah (32), s/o (L) Maniruddin of Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai is a Rifleman of 7th IRB presently attached with Imphal East commando. He was arrested by Imphal West police during investigation of the case.
Haffijuddin Shah was produced before the Court along with a prayer to send him to judicial custody.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that a combined team of 2nd Manipur Rifles, Imphal West police and volunteers of YADA seized 5 packets of ice drug weighing around 5 kgs from Sanju Bakery situated at Yaiskul on August 29.
Saying that the team arrested one Bishnu Banik 32 s/o Deepak Banik of Muslim Nagar, Moreh Ward Number 5 who revealed that the drug was delivered to him by his partner Karim from Imphal East, the IO added that ice drug was to be transported outside the State.
Accused Bishnu Banik has also been remanded to police custody till September 5 while another co-accused Karimuddin (35) s/o (L) Maniruddin of Kiyamgei Mayai Leika has been sent to police custody till September 8, as per the IO.
The IO further stated that Haffijuddin was arrested yesterday based on the inputs given by Bishnu Banik and Karimuddin.
Saying that all the accused and co-accused of the case haven't disclosed their exact role in running the business on separate interrogation, the IO said that cross examinations all three of them are required to establish the facts of the case.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded Haffijuddin to seven days police custody till September 8.
