EGM urges

IMPHAL, Sep 14 : The Editor’s Guild Manipur (EGM) has appealed all the online members of its Facebook group/forum to not post unedited versions of any press release in the group.
EGM said this in a statement issued today following the sharing of some press release of a proscribed/banned armed outfit on its Facebook page by some members of the group.
Group admins of the EGM facebook group had made the group public/open to allow healthy interaction between the public and Editors of Manipur and for highlighting public issues in a legal manner, however the act of individual posting/sharing unedited press releases directly has potential of compromising the ethics of journalists, added the statement.
The press release of the proscribed/banned outfit posted by some members of the group has been removed by the administrators of the page after the matter was brought to their notice, added the statement.
