Kidnapper arrested, minor rescued

IMPHAL, Sep 12: A non-local man who kidnapped a minor girl from the State has been arrested from Guwahati Railway Station and the victim has been rescued.
A team of Imphal East women police station brought back the 29 year old non-local from Guwahati after taking transit remand from Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup
Hanslal Kumar (29) s/o Amira Rai of Dharharwa Chiraia, East Champaran, Bihar who allegedly kidnapped the minor girl for child trafficking was arrested from Guwahati Railway Station on September 11 at around 1.26 pm.
The police team led by Inspector G Geetanjali also succeeded in rescuing the victim.
On September 10, father of the minor girl lodged a complaint to Imphal East women police station stating that his minor daughter had been kidnapped by the accused on the September 9 at about 7.30 am from near UCO Bank building located at Mantripukhri when the minor girl was going to school. Hence a case was registered for investigation.
On the evening of September 10, police received a reliable input about the presence of the accused in and around Guwahati Railway Station.
On September 11, a team of police led by Inspector Gurumayum Geetanjali Devi left for Guwahati and arrested the accused at 1.26 pm from Guwahati Railway Station under Guwahati Railway Police Station (Paltan Bazar) and also rescued the minor girl.
Later, the accused was produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (M) Assam and was awarded transit remand for a period of four days September 11 to September 14.
The accused was brought to Imphal from Guwahati in a flight today afternoon.
