IMPHAL, Sep 11
The Lions Club of Imphal honoured four teachers for their selfless and exemplary service in a function held at Lions Service Centre, Sangaiprou today.
According to a statement, the four honourees are Sanasam Meghachandra Singh, retd principal, Manipur College; Thounaojam Manglemba Singh, retd headmaster, Yumnam Khunou High School; Konsam Loidang, retd head mistress (i/c) Khonghampat Primary School and Wangkhem Basanti Devi, retd faculty staff in the Regional Health & Family Welfare Training Centre.
They were honoured with simple gifts and citations which were handed over by the President of the Club, Dr P Brajamani Singh.
Separately, the statement also informed that the fortnightly Eye OPD resumed service at the Lions Eye Hospital, Sangaiprou from today.
Altogether, 26 patients had their eye check-up done by Dr L Chaoba Singh. Free medicines were also distributed, the statement added.
In connection with the Eye OPD, the President of the Club Dr Brajamani said that vision is one of the service projects of Lions Clubs International and globally various Clubs have taken up projects under the theme of “Sight for All” to eradicate blindness and other eye diseases.
He continued that Helen Keller had appealed to the 'Lions' to be the “Knights of the Blind” in the crusade against darkness. He appealed to the public to avail the service of the Eye OPD of Lions Club of Imphal which will be open on every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 10 AM to 12 noon at the Lions Eye Hospital, Sangaiprou.
