IMPHAL, Sep 12: An interaction programme of members of Sayol Helping Hand was held at Chingtam Unity Park at Wakha yesterday.
A sapling plantation drive was also conducted as a part of the programme which was held under the theme 'Punshi Mayol'.
Assistant Professor of Department of Teacher Education, Manipur University (MU), Dr K Romeo; Research Scholar, MU, Chingsubam Manglemton Meetei and senior member of Sayol Helping Hand, Longjam Manishang graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Chingsubam Manglemton maintained that the vision of a harmonious and developed society can be achieved if one supports and extends help to one another, setting aside all forms of differences.
However he expressed concern over the current nature of today's society where one remains in oblivion of what is happening around and not even knowing one's neighbour.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr K Romeo lauded the members of Sayol Helping Hand for coming together and forming a platform to extend help to the poor and needy.
He also assured to extend best possible help to the organisation from his end.
Expressing concern over the rising cases of depression among the educated youths due to unemployment, he appealed to the youths to focus on skill oriented fields to be self-reliant thereby helping to boost the economy.
He further maintained that if adventure tourism is promoted in the State, it will subsequently generate employment in the State and will lead in the enhancement of State's economic and social status.
But he expressed discontent that the authorities concerned have not taken up any concrete measures on the matter which is really unfortunate.
