Paryavaran Sanrakshan conducts Prakiti Vandana

Paryavaran Sanrakshan Manipur in association with Seva Bharati, Manipur organized Prakiti Vandana (nature worship) with the worship of the Laioiraba Pureiromba Khongnang at Konung Mamang, Imphal East today.
 As part of the program, around 40 volunteers offered flowers and fruits to the ancient, holy Peepal tree.
The nature worship was led by Khwairakpam Rajen Singh, secretary, Assam Kshetra (North-East Region), Paryavaran Sanrakshan along with Shijagurumayum Tarunkumar Sharma, secretary, Manipur Prant (State), Paryavaran Sanrakshan, a statement has informed.
 After lighting candles and burning incense sticks, thread and red coloured cloth was tied around the tree.
Notably, tying a thread around a tree symbolises "our bonding and also protection of the trees from cutting and felling", the statement added.
Thounaojam Bonbihari, Sanyojak, Paryavaran Sanrakshan delivered a brief speech on Prakiti Vandana.
Protection of the trees is the need of the hour to save environment, the statement added and urged people to plant at least few trees in their lifetime and ensure the trees survive and grow to its full potential. Human beings and all the animals in this planet are protected and nurtured by the plants. They survive because of the oxygen provided by the trees. From a scientific point of view, peepal tree is a great source of oxygen as it releases oxygen around the clock, the statement shared.
The statement also stressed on the importance of water resources stating that water is very important for the survival of all animals as there are about 70% water in all living cells.  It further appealed people to develop habits of judicious use of water.
Lastly, the statement maintained that the environment protects the people, as such, it is the duty of the people to extend that same regard for the environment.
During the worship ceremony, Paryavaran Sanrakshan highlighted their slogan "U thaminashi, U hinghanminashi, Eshing likna sijanarashi, Cherang sagonaragumshi" (Lets plant trees, ensure growth of trees, use water judiciously and avoid use of plastic bags) on a banner.
