Film Forum Manipur has extended their deepest condolences upon the passing of Ningthoujam Ibempishak Devi, a pioneer of Manipuri cinema on August 26 due to an illness.
Born on 13th January, 1937, Ningthoujam Ibempishak Devi from Sagolband Salam Leikai was the first female art director of Manipuri cinema in Anjana Films' 'Khonjel' released in 1981. She continued her work in the role of dialogue writer in the film 'Paap' released in 1990 and also in 'Khamba Thoibi' released in 1997. She also contributed as a story and screenplay writer in the film 'Yenningtha Amada' which was released in 1997.
Aside from this, the notable personality also bagged a gold medal in cycling in the Manipur Olympic Games in the 1950s, a statement has informed.
Film Forum Manipur called her demise a loss in the journey of Manipuri cinema and shared in the grief of the bereaved family.
