Two from Manipur held with drugs

DIMAPUR, Jul 2: Nagaland Police arrested two persons from Manipur for carrying suspected banned drugs, yesterday. A case in this regard has been registered.
According to Nagaland Police, based on specific input, Nagaland Police personnel of the Narcotic Cell Mobile Unit intercepted a Guwahati-bound vehicle (Renault Duster), which was coming from Imphal, near Peducha in Kohima on Friday at around 1 am.
A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 100,000 (one lakh) suspected Yaba tablets (WY), neatly wrapped with yellow tape in 10 different packets containing 10,000 tablets each, and concealed inside a specially built compartment near the spare tyre, the police said.
According to the police, the approximate value of the recovered items is around Rs 20 lakh. The suspected contraband items were duly seized and two occupants of the vehicle namely David Jamkholun Baite (27 years) and Thongminthang (31 years) were arrested. Both of them are residents of Tengnoupal district, the police added.
