IMPHAL, Jul 1 : Noted filmmaker of the State, Romi Meitei, is one among three winners of a film competition revolving around human rights organised by the National Human Rights Commission.
Romi Meitei was conferred the prestigious award for his film "Curfew".
The award was handed over to the winners by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the course of a National conference on "Human Rights and Philosophy" held at the Plenary Hall of Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Thursday.
The event was also attended by NHRC Chair- person Justice Arun Mishra; Ram Bahadur Rai, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts Board of Trustee member; NHRC members Justice MM Kumar, Dr DM Mulay, Rajiv Jain; DK Singh, secretary general; senior officials and many legal experts.
A visibly elated Romi Meitei said that he wanted to depict the suffering of the people of Manipur due to the imposition of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 and thanked the organisations for acknowledging his work.
