CCSK denounces attempts to distort history
IMPHAL, Jun 4
The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) has said that politicians, organisations and a section of people who have been behaving like spies or agents of secret services to disintegrate Manipur are the true enemies of the State.
In a statement, CCSK secretary organisation Laikhuram Jayenta said that some sections of people scheming to destroy the unity and integrity of Manipur by inventing fabricated tales is very unfortunate.
Continuing that this group of people allegedly conspiring to break up Manipur like an outsider despite settling in the State is regrettable, CCSK said that no act is more uncultured than attempting to distort the history of 'other civilizations.'
The committee further stated that the ancestors of Manipur went through different trials and tribulations to develop the State that 'we see today.'
Asserting that Treaty of Chittagong, Treaty of Yandabo 1826, Kabow Valley Agreement and enactment of Manipur State Constitution Act 1947 are some of the important events in the history of Manipur, CCSK urged the State Government to take prompt actions against those who have been giving a false account of the geographical areas and history of Manipur which are of utmost importance to the indigenous people here.
The committee also stated that there are many other historical backgrounds, evidence and facts which show beyond doubt that people of the hills and valley have been co-existing peacefully in Manipur.
However, some section of people who admire migration theory have been scheming to destroy the unity and integrity of Manipur and break the State into pieces, CCSK claimed and added that these people putting up a claim that hill areas of Manipur were not a part of Merger Agreement is nothing but a an effort to divide the people.
Claiming that academicians and intellectuals who propagate misleading statements can do more harm to the State than any drug or weapons, CCSK reiterated that these people who have been behaving like spies or agents of secret services to disintegrate Manipur are the true enemies of the State.
He then urged the State Government to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
