CM greets

IMPHAL, Jun 4 : Chief Minister N Biren has exten-ded his greeting to the people of Manipur on the occasion of World Environment Day.
In his greeting, the Chief Minister stated that the World Environment Day is being observed throughout the world on June 5 every year since 1974.
Continuing that the theme of this year's observance is "Only on Earth" and it calls for collective and transfor-mative actions to protect and restore the planet, N Biren maintained that Manipur is currently witnessing environmental emergency due to loss of unprecedented forest areas due to large scale  human interference in once lush green forests.
He also said that meeting 'this challenge' requires the support of one and all.
The State Government will give new life to the destroyed forest areas and prevent deforestation, he said and urged all individuals and civil societies to come out and play a key role to keep the State green and habitable.
