One held with 4.07 Kgs opium
IMPHAL, Jun 26 : A combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles apprehended an individual with suspected opium from SL Zougam village, Tengnoupal district at around 8 pm yesterday.
A combined team of 21 Assam Rifles and a team of Machi police station apprehended one Thangkhosat Touthang (50) s/o late Lenzakham of New Bijang village, Sangaikot sub-division, Churachandpur district from a tri-junction of SL Zougam.
Around 4.07 Kgs of suspected opium which were packed in four polythene bags were seized from his possession.
The monetary value of the opium seized from Thangkhosat Touthang is estimated to be around Rs 2.44 lakh.
Acting on his disclosure, another combined team of 16 AR, 21 AR, Kasom Khullen police station and Machi police station carried out a search operation at Saichuang village, Kang-pokpi district at around 10.30 am today.
In the course of the search operation, two other polythene bags containing 3.450 Kgs of suspected opium which are estimated to be worth around Rs 2.07 lakh were recovered.
Thangkhosat Touthang has been handed over to Machi police station along with the seized items, sources informed.
