Rhythms of Manipur observes World Music Day 2022

Rhythms of Manipur observed the World Music Day 2022 today at the Golden Jubilee Stage of the Manipuri Jagoi Marup, Imphal.
Musical presentations of various genres namely Indian Classical instrumental, percussion recital and fusion music were the main highlights of the celebration, said a statement by Rhythms of Manipur.
The President of the Rhythms of Manipur, Likmabam Manibabu inaugurated the event with a candle lighting ceremony.
The musical performances kicked off with the Tabla solo recital performed by Moirangthem Randhlop accompanied by Khumukcham Noren on Harmonium.
Tabla recital was followed by Indian Classical instrumental presentation with Aribam Laxmirani Devi on Sitar, Hidangmayum Lalhari Sharma on flute and Elangbam Herochand on Tabla.
The celebration concluded with the presentation of national award winning fusion music composition of Rhythms of Manipur 'The Dancing Drummers'.
It may be noted that the World Music Day which started from France in the year 1982 is now observed in many countries including India.
The Rhythms of Manipur has also been observing the day starting from the mid eighties regularly, added the statement.
