IMPHAL, Jun 20 : The Manipur Master Athletic Association (MMAA) has strongly denounced the Registrar of Societies over the publication of "erroneous" member lists of the association in view of the election of new office bearers.
The secretary of the association, in a press meet held this evening at the association office situated at Mapal Kangjeibung, said that the step of the Registrar of Societies is very unsatisfactory. He also said that the association is prepared to take legal course against the wrongdoings by the Registrar of Societies.
The existing administrators (office bearers) of the association was elected in 2018 under the supervision of the Registrar of Societies and with the nearing completion of the tenure of the administrators, a list of 296 members, including names of deceased members of the association was issued in the wake of the impending election for the new term, he said.
What is more concerning is the recent publication of another list containing a staggering 519 members and it has created a big confusion among the association members, he said and questioned as to how the Registrar of Societies have included unknown members without the knowledge of the association (Manipur Master Athletic Association).
Terming that the move was nothing but a bid to "hold sway" over the association, the association secretary also drew the attention of the State Government to intervene into the matter and take up necessary actions.
Unwanted situation may arise if the Registrar of Societies does not look into the matter and do the needful, the secretary added.
