Scripting success story with Rs 500Saluting the success story

Amid the rain, the rising water level of the major rivers in Manipur, the story of deaths and human tragedy at Assam, the Nationwide protests against Agnipath, the news of a young Ukhrul woman, who symbolises grit, tenacity and a sharp business mind came like the proverbial breath of fresh air. It was with pleasure that The Sangai Express carried the news story of Yangmila Zimik, who started her business venture with just Rs 500 in 2015 and which today stands tall as a success story. Stuffs that are truly inspiring and hope such a story is able to ignite the interests of other young wannabe entrepreneurs not only in Ukhrul but also across the State. It is also extremely encouraging to note that it is a local NGO based at Ukhrul, Volunteers for Village Development (VVD), which recognised the potential in her and extended a personal loan to help expand her business. This is truly appreciable. Not to forget is also the support and assistance extended by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. All instances to demonstrate that with vision and grit one can reach out for the sky and this in short is the story of Yangmila Zimik. It is also to be noted that the young lady in question is an unmarried lady with a son and how she has risen to establish her own product, Shirin Products in 2019 are stories that brighten the morning while going through the day’s newspaper. Ukhrul has already seen some innovative young ladies who have made a name for themselves with their innovative approach to the work at hand and one name that comes to mind immediately is Zeinorin Stephen Angkang who did not only Ukhrul proud but also Manipur in being chosen as one of the world’s 12 most inspirational young leaders for the Kofi Annan Changemakers in 2021. Truly inspiring stories and one hopes that the story of Yangmila Zimik and earlier before her Zeinorin Stephen Angkang will inspire more and more of the Tangkhul damsels not only in Ukhrul but across Manipur and beyond.
It is stories like these that need to be told and one hopes such success stories of grit and determination manage to inspire the others too who are out there trying to make a living and in the process make a name for themselves. The Sangai Express  is not saying that these are unique stories for there must be other tales that need to be told. Whatever the case may be, success stories need to be told more often and it is this which will not be overlooked in the look out for ‘hot and happening stories’. Let the story of Yangmila Zimik inspire others that they also have the potential to emerge as success stories. The only thing that is needed is obviously the willingness to get out of one’s comfort zone and try one’s hand at something which can and will stand out from the run of the mill story. Manipur has also seen success stories of women, particularly in the field of sports and games. Mary Kom, Mirabai Chanu, Laishram Sarita and earlier Kunjarani, Sanamacha are some names that come to mind immediately and there must be more others out there who have already made a name for themselves and in the process bring pride to Manipur. All instances to show that women of Manipur have it in them to show to everyone and that they can excel in whatever they choose to do. This is the spirit of the Meira Paibi movement and the all women markets not only at Ima Keithel but now across the district headquarters. Cheers to all women, who are mothers and entrepreneurs too.
