BISHNUPUR, Jun 19 : A team of officials on Sunday inspected the preparations for "International Day of Yoga 2022" celebration at Loktak lake.
Manipur University will be organising the "International Day of Yoga 2022" celebration on June 21 under the theme, "Yoga for Humanity" at Loktak Lake.
The team consisted of Manipur University Vice Chancellor, N Lokendra; Manipur University Registrar, W Chandbabu; Deputy Registrars; MU Engineers, officials of Ministry of Education, and Producer EMRC Manipur University.
Speaking to media persons, W Chandbabu stated that the celebration of International Yoga Day would be unique this year and preparations have been going on smoothly.
He mentioned that Loklak Lake was included in the 75 iconic places selected under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of India's independence.
"Manipur University will be organising the event this year as per the direction of the Ministry of Education, Government of India", he added.
He also expressed hope that such events would boost tourism in the state.
W Chandbabu also informed that Minister of State, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, B L Verma would be attending the event as chief guest along with Thanga AC MLA, PDA Chairman and Manipur University VC among others.
W Chandbabu further appealed to the people to take part in the celebration to make it a grand success.
Meanwhile, in view of the preparation works going on for "International Day of Yoga" celebration, M Ibosana, president Loktak Lake Tourism Development Co-operative Society Ltd has informed that boating services in Loktak Lake would be cancelled on June 20.
