IMPHAL, Jun 19 : Manipur's medal haul at the All India Karate Championship reached 5 with Soibam James and Sagolshem Herojit adding a silver and a bronze medal each today.
Soibam James won the silver medal in the -50 kg senior men's kumite event of the championship held at Balewadi Stadium, Pune.
James hails from Kakching Khunou, and a son of Soibam Jiten and Soibam Shanti Devi. He is coached by Soibam Chandrima Chanu, SAI-STC Imphal Karate coach.
Meanwhile, Sagolshem Herojit Meitei won a bronze medal in the -67 kg men's kumite event. Herojit was born to S Tomba Meitei and S Baby Leima of Mayang Imphal, and trained at International Shito Ryu Karate Federation India under Kyoshi Mutum Bankim Singh.
It may be noted that KM Suaib (cadet boys 63 kg kumite), Laishram Yaiphaba (U-21 boys Kata) and Kh Madhushumita (U-15 girls +59 kg kumite) have won silver medals for Manipur in their respective categories earlier.
