Month long theatre workshop kicks off

IMPHAL, Jun 19 : A month long theatre workshop based on 'Moirang Parva' kicked off today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen Palace Compound.
The workshop is jointly organised by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Theatre Mirror Imphal.
The inaugural function was graced by Manipur State Co-operative Union president, L Tompishak Singh, Manipur State Shumang leela Council president, M Purnimashi Leima,  Life time president of Manipur State Shumang leela Council, Ph Gunachandra Sharma, Camp Director Sougrakpam Hemanta and Project Director Padmashri Naba Wareppa as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, L Tompishak Singh said that the Shumang Leela artform has become an important aspect for the promotion of art and culture of Manipur in the global platform.
Project Director Naba Wareppa while addressing the gathering informed that a series of workshops has been organised to establish a repertory based on the concept and philosophy of Shumang Leela
He also sought special attention from the State Government  to promote Shumang Leela and to establish a repertory.
Around 50 trainees are taking part in the workshop.
