Man convicted

IMPHAL, Jun 18 : Special Judge Fast Track Special Court Number I Salam Imocha on Saturday convicted a 25 years old man for 'defiling' a minor girl in 2018.
The case was on against the convict after the family members of the victim lodged a complaint before the Imphal West women police station against the convict Irom Rakesh, s/o Bira of Lamboikhongnang Khong Mamang Leikai.
The IO of the case submitted the chargesheet against the convict for trial before the Special Court POCSO Imphal West and framed charges against the convict under Section 6 of POCSO Act.
The trial of the case was transferred to Special Judge Fast Track Special Court Number 1 from Special Court POCSO Imphal West by an order of the High Court of Manipur. It may be mentioned that the convict is currently in judicial custody at Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa. It is alleged that the convict attempted to kill the victim's father on May 21 last at the foothill between Iroisemba and Lamdeng.
Three others co accused in the attempt to murder case have been  presently on bail.
