IMPHAL, Jun 15: The State Handloom Expo 2022-2023 was inaugurated today at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi in Imphal East district.
The handloom expo is being organised by Manipur Apex Handloom Weaver And Handicrafts Artisan CS Ltd (AWAS), Paona Bazar under the aegis of National Handloom Development Programma (NHDP) and is sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handloom, Ministry of Textile Govt of India, New Delhi.
Valentina Arambam , IAS , Registrar , Cooperative Societies Manipur, Ronika Devi, president of Manipur Apex Handloom Weaver And Handicrafts Artisan CS Ltd, E Jiten Singh , Joint Director Directorate of Handloom and Textile , Govt of Manipur, HK Baro , Deputy Director/HoO Weavers Service Centre, Porompat and Y Shantikumar Singh, Office-in-charge, National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd. Porompat graced the inaugural function as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Valentina Arambam highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the indigenous products.
She appealed to all weavers to produce quality products and to work with dedication.
The expo will be held for 14 days and 60 stalls will be opened.
