KIYG : Bishal, Matouleibi, Linthoi add gold medals to Manipur's tally

IMPHAL, Jun 11 : K Bishal, Huidrom Matouleibi and Linthoi Chanambam all have earned  Manipur gold medals in Khelo India Youth Games Judo after Ningthoujam Rojit and Mutum Roshibina bagged bronze medals yesterday to take the State's tally to 23 medals- 16 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze.
K Bishal won the gold medal beating Garvit of hosts Haryana in the -66 kg category final. Tanish of Delhi and Akash of Rajasthan shared the bronze medals in the said category.
Meanwhile, Linthoi claimed the -57 kg category gold beating Shahin of Gujarat in the final today as Huidrom Matouleiba clinched the -52 kg category gold beating Tanistha of Delhi in the final.
Three medals for Manipur are also assured in Boxing as Bishwamitra (51 kg), Laishangbam Rabichandra (60 kg) and Huidrom Griviya (57 kg) entered semi-finals.
With today's medal haul, Manipur are fourth in the tally behind hosts Haryana, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
It may be noted that the Manipur Thang-Ta team racked up as many as 9 gold medals in the games being underway in Panchkula and other venues while the cycling team bagged three medals including two gold medals and a silver thanks to Khwairakpam Rahul and weightlifting team fetched 2 medals including a gold and a bronze.
