Legal awareness programme held

As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) yesterday organised a one day legal awareness programme on "Common myths on justice delivery system" at Sinadam village, Chandel district.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Changlo Nula Anal, Para Legal Volunteer, DLSA Chandel, said a release issued by DLSA Chandel.
Speaking on the occasion, Jacky Lucy Lamkang, Advocate, enlightened the gathering on the justice delivery system in the country.
She also spoke on various types of cases of the judiciary system namely, criminal, civil, juvenile justice, etc and explained the difference between a Suspect, Arrestee, Accused and a Convict.
"Delivering justice is not a duty solely entrusted to the judiciary, it cannot be conducted in isolation. The justice delivery mechanism is dependent on several factors and cooperation amongst the three major organs of the State i.e., executive, legislature and judiciary", she asserted.
Moreover, DLSA Imphal East also organised a sensitisation programme for all the OCs of Imphal East district on the topic, ""Sensitisation of Investigating Officers in the light of developments made by Bikramjit v/s State of Punjab, (2020) 10 SCC 616".
The programme was presided by S Imocha Singh, Judge, Fast Track Special Court (No 1), Manipur.
RK Memcha Devi, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East; Heeralata Moirangthe, secretary DLSA Imphal East and Arshad Saeed Shah, secretary DLSA Imphal East took part in the programme as speakers.
At the event, S Imocha Singh deliberated on the various provisions of NIA Act, 2008.
The programme was also participated by Superintendent of Police, Imphal East; SDPO Porompat, officers in-charge of various police stations of Imphal East and other IOs of Imphal East.
