Protest staged

Thoubal, May 8 : A number of people staged a  protest inside the complex of Community Health Centre, Wangoo Laipham over the 'shortage of doctors and staff ' at the health centre.
There, the protesters, which included the locals of Wangoo and members of the hospital management committee cautioned that the Community Health Centre will be closed if the authorities concerned don't send adequate doctors and staff by May 15 to provide better health care service to the people.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protesters said that the Community Health Centre, Wangoo Laipham was upgraded in 2018 but the health centre doesn't have sufficient doctors and staff till today.
Saying that they have complained about the shortage  to the CMO concerned and Health Director but the higher authority didn't take up any tangible action to solve the issue, the protester claimed that the hospital has sufficient doctors only in its record but they are being utilised elsewhere.
He further urged the authority concerned to remove the name of the staff who don't work at the hospital from MGEL.
A local of Wangoo claimed that the health centre often  fail to provide emergency service due to lack of doctors and she had encountered the case herself in the past.
