Foundation Day celebrated

THOUBAL, May 8: Thoubal District Newspaper Hawker Association on Sunday observed its 2nd Foundation Day at Thoubal Athokpam Khunou.
It was attended by Thoubal District Working Journalists's Union (TDWJU) president, Soibam Binoy; Thoubal District Newspaper Hawker Association president, S Ragumani; Thoubal District Hawker Association advisor, S Lokendro, members of Thoubal District Working Journalists Union (TDWJU) and Hawker Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Soibam Binoy highlighted the impact of the increasing trend of social media to hawkers in particular and media houses in general.
He continued that the use of photos and YouTube Channels to spread news has impacted the livelihood of newspaper hawkers, which in turn will hurt all the media persons and houses.
Soibam Binoy further mentioned that it is high time for all to come together and deliberate on the issue for the welfare of all the media fraternity.
S Raghumani appealed to all not to release the PDF and photos of news items before the distribution of newspapers in the interest of the hawkers.
Later, the newspaper hawkers present in the programme shared their grievances and deliberated on the way forward.
