LDA Chairman felicitated

A felicitation ceremony of the newly appointed Chairman of Loktak Development Authority (LDA), M Asnikumar was held today at the LDA Site Office at Toupokpi, Ningthoukhong.
Addressing the gathering, M Asnikumar earnestly appealed to all the staff of LDA to work with dedication and discipline while performing their duties and also to focus on creating a conducive work environment.  
He also stressed on the magnitude of the task before all the  stakeholders concerned in conserving, preserving and maintaining the Loktak lake which holds a huge socio-economic and cultural significance in the region.
The participation of lake dwellers and local communities are crucial in the conservation mission as they share a unique and close bond with the lake, he added.
 The Chairman further stated that with the commencement of a new chapter of LDA , he will tirelessly work to ensure that the challenges are met appropriately and collectively.
As a part of the  felicitation programme, a formal announcement was made regarding an Expert Advisory Committee (EAC) formed by the LDA on May 27, 2022  for formulating a Long Term Perspective Plan (LTPP) for Loktak lake and its associated wetlands. EAC will work for conservation and management and to address the issues related to fast changing ecological situations and their impact on social/economic condition of the communities dependent on them.
The Committee comprises of a Chairman, Member Secretary and nine members namely, Dr AK Patnaik (IFS Retd) a renowned Wetland Management and Governance Expert as the chairman, Dr Goldin Quadros, Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology, Mumbai as Member Secretary and Professor Dr Rajeev Sinha, Dept of Earh Science, IIT Kanpur, SS Chhabra, IFS, Addl. PCCF , Govt of Manipur, Prof  Dr Ksh Lal Bihari Singha, Dept of Life Science, Manipur University (MU), Prof Dr Thingbaijam Binoy Singh, Department of Life Sciences ( Zoology), MU, Dr SA Hussain, Senior Scientist , Wildlife Institute of India (WII) , Dehradun, Dr BK Das, Director CIFRI, Barrackpore, Dr Ritesh Kumar, Director of Wetland International South Asia (WISA), New Delhi, Prof Dr Surabhi Mehrotra, MANIT, Bhopal as members of the committee.
It was resolved that the committee shall deliberate on these issues taking into account all the relevant perspectives and shall submit its suggestions/recommendations in the form of a detailed report to the LDA within three months from the date of issue of the order.
